What is dialysis? # Dialysis performs function similar to the kidneys. It adequately filters and purified the blood using a machine. It is one of the most common treatment strategies to reduce the intensity of a kidney disease. Why is it required? 1)When kidneys can’t perform normally due to disease or injury, dialysis can help keep the body running as normally as possible. 2) Dialysis filter harmful waste products from the blood, while peritoneal dialysis removes excess water, waste, and chemicals from the body. 3)In an end-stage kidney disease, without dialysis, salts and other waste products get accumulated in the blood and poison the body which can be life threatening.
